Navigating your Wiki with the SideBar

Objective: Create a Link in the SideBar to a page in your Wiki.

Navigating a Wiki is key! Viewers, participants, and administrators need to be able to view your content pages. The SideBar helps with that. It should have links to the major pages of your Wiki.

Task 1: Setting up the SideBar to link to Wiki pages

The SideBar stays as a navigation tool on all pages of the Wiki. You can organize the links to pages in the SideBar like an outline, for example with bulleted lists.

It is a good idea to set up the SideBar with a link to the home page.

    2. Type Home Page (or Home).

    3. Highlight the text. On the right side, click the Pages tab and click FrontPage. In PBworks the FrontPage is the home page of the Wiki.

   4. Click Save and Continue.

Task 2: Linking to pages in the Wiki

    1. Under Home Page, type the titles of the other pages you created: About MeFavorite LinksTeaching Resources and Materials, and Participants' Bios.

    2. Highlight the text of the first page, About Me. Click Add Link

    3. A box will appear with the text you highlightedClick Browse Pages & Files.

    4. Select Existing Page, File, or Folder and the page you created (e.g. About Me). Your SideBar will now show the link.

    5. Repeat the steps to link the other pages you created.

Your SideBar should now look like this:
